Will fruit make me fat?

The tough & beautiful Jordan McDonald obviously has very little back fat

This is such a popular question now with Paleo as popular as it is.  The Paleo way of eating frowns upon fruit and using any type of sweeteners and is not fond of carbohydrates in general.
The subscap measurement in the BioSignature method answers this question in short order.  The subscap or the "back fat" measurement is an indicator whether you can tolerate carbs or not.  The general rule is if the back fat is above 10mm - SORRY - carbs are not your friend and they will make you fat.  If you are one of the lucky 10% that have a back fat measurement of 10mm or less you can actually tolerate carbs and stay lean.
Of course commone sense comes into play here and you still need to make wise carb choices and stay away from too many sweets, refined carbs and grains.

If this is too complicated for you or you don't have access to Jrod to check your back fat try this simple method.

KISS – Keeping It Simple Silly

Try this at home, free test to know if you can tolerate carbs
Eat some carbs and then look in the mirror.  If you look fat – hmmm . . .carbs may be a back stabbing bitch (BSB) ;(

Not sure?  Send in a pic and we will run it through our high tech data analysis program and post your answer on Face book

Pro MMA Fighter benefits from Functional Lab Tests

Impacting Lives is what we do at Next Level

Jon Owens is a Pro MMA fighter & Pro Surfer and one bad ass Mother F*cker who had some pretty serious health issues but was being totally overlooked by the medical field.   After countless trips to the ER and fighting sicker than a dog, Jon was getting quite fed up.

Now Jon is successfully fighting his way back to the top.  Being his strength coach for several years, I knew Jon's complaint's were legit; in my experience high caliber athletes rarely complain.  So when they do, I go to work at finding the cause.  Jon's immune system was fighting as hard as he does and if you have ever seen his fights you know that is intense!

Milk does some body's good, not Jon's body!  Through functional lab tests and the appropriate interpretation, BioSignature protocols and food restrictions he has Tiger Blood running through his veins once again.  He will be kicking ass and taking names very shortly! -Jrod

In Jon's own words. . . . .

“. . . Thanks Next Level... Any athlete looking to compete at the highest level should check out Next Level.“

“ Nah big guy that along with a very bad Intestinal Parasite is what was sending me to the ER. It’s funny I’ve been trying to tell everyone around me that I have fuckin food poisoning... But no, no its a ulcer or IBS the doctors tested me 26 times for Pancreatitis. If one more person made up some bullshit that was wrong with their sister’s cousin I was going to flip out.  4 years of bullshit and all it took was someone to listen to me and run the right test. Who would have thought the guy with the problem may know what he was feeling.“

“Oh shit!! Tired of just living in a dream at your gym and not living it," Tired of being on The Edge of Fitness. HAHAHA

Thanks! Next level for all the info, testing and nutritional advice. I lost 12 lbs.,  I’m down to 156 and body fat is at 2.5%...6 weeks dairy free, gluten free and my high fat diet plus the sick workouts; I’m back on track.  And Ok if you think that 2.5 is a lie its certified dawg ha-ha.  Nah but for real; you really will think I’m full of shit on what I been eating. Here  is my diet: steak, chicken or fish 3 to 5 times a day. Vegs: broc, asparagus, spinach 4 to 5 times a week. Lots of fat; 2 to 4 packs of all natural, nitrate free bacon a day, also avocado, fish oil and real butter.. On top of getting crazy ripped, losing weight and feeling better than I have in a long time.... My belly is all better.”   –Jon Owens

Are you being reckless with your health? Invest in yourself

Free and subsidized just don’t seem to work that well in this country – they take something of value and quickly devalue it.  Like subsidized food for instance; soy, wheat and corn are the three most popular ones.  Traces of them can be found in just about any pre-packed food and in 99% of fast food.  They are horrible for us thanks to being genetically modified, mass produced, heavily sprayed with pesticides like atrazine and planted in degraded soil – Thank you Monsanto and the US Government.

Insurance has become the same in this country – subsidized health care is not working!  Many people have insurance and only pay a portion of their medical costs or if they are lucky pay none of the cost of medical expenses and worse yet mandated health care is coming down the pipeline which most likely will push unneeded medication on uninformed patients.  Unfortunately free and subsidized has devalued medical care to the point of ridiculous; it has driven subpar health care into what is now sick care.  Doctors cannot run the tests necessary; they are so quick to prescribe medication it will make your head spin and they are directed by the insurance company instead of their medical wisdom.

This is driving two different types of care for the future – The conventional medical route also known as allopathy will become strictly sick care and the Functional Realm will be where people go for true health care.  Health care should be defined as preventative maintenance to keep us as close to 100% as possible on the wellness meter.  Functional Practitioners look for causes and optimum ranges; they are not quick to prescribe medication as they are looking to allow the body to heal itself.  Functional means running the appropriate labs to both be proactive and prevent health issues from arising or to find deficiencies and address them through proper nutrition and supplementation.

People with insurance have a tendency to be reckless with their health and most of the time they are so used to the ‘medical system’ they don’t even realize it is happening.  I know from the experience of not having any health insurance for years that I myself take health serious.  I constantly run labs, avoid toxins, eat organic, stay on my basic supplements and run protocols.  Man I take it so serious I have not had a drop of alcohol in over 5 years nor a speck of gluten in 3 years; but then again I can’t do these reckless things as no one is going to pick up the tab when I get sick or need a supplement or god forbid medicine.

Having been in the ‘medical system’ for years when I did have insurance and seeing and feeling how my health suffered I just couldn’t do it anymore.  I became a Functional practitioner to help myself and others reach optimal health through labs and protocols.  I emphasize labs with my clients as I don’t want to be like the medical industry and just throw supplements at people.  For example an Organic Acid Test sheds light on ‘maple syrup syndrome’ which is a marker of a B complex deficiency associated with poor assimilation of the Branch Chain Amino Acids.  This unique smelling urine (like maple syrup) is an indication of a B complex deficiency, especially Thiamin.  Thanks to Dr. Mark Schauss, when he mentioned this syndrome at a seminar, I realized the smell of maple syrup was not just my pancake craving in overdrive and was caused by a real deficiency.  So a quick easy urine collection test functionally assesses biomechanical individual needs; much like a blue print for a home telling you exactly where the nails go.

Unfortunately insurance has caused individuals to become cheap with their health.  I always stress labs with my clients however many are hesitant to spend the money up-front as we have become a society that would rather drive an expensive vehicle or take an extravagant vacation than put a few bucks into our own health care and find out what is necessary to be optimal or feel better.

Don’t be reckless with your health, be proactive and invest in yourself; your body is worth it!  JROD
